New progress on IPv6 applications in China, Japan and Europe

China Mobile

As the world's largest mobile operator with network scale and customer scale, China Mobile attaches great importance to the research and practice of combining mobile communications with the next generation of Internet, actively conducts overall strategy research and research on the transition mode of the next generation of Internet, and conducts related experiments on the next generation of Internet.

The China Mobile Group R&D Center, established in September 2001, has carried out active research in various aspects such as IPv6, IP QoS, MPLS, and transmission technology, accumulated rich experience, and has a good R&D foundation to support the next generation of Internet research experiments.

The IPv6 test applications proposed by China Mobile in participating in the GNGI project include: IPv6 end-to-end service test (such as PoC/IMS, SIP services), IPv6 address requirements service test (such as remote monitoring), IPv6 impact on data service networking methods, IPv6 enhanced service test (such as video telephone/conference TV, multicast-based video on demand), NGI network management and billing test, etc.

China Unicom

As the operator with the largest scale and business volume of VoIP networks in the world, and also the operator of the largest video conferencing network based on IP, China Unicom is most concerned about the transition from its core data services such as VoIP and video conferencing to IPv6, and explores appropriate experimental models.

The special applications proposed by China Unicom in participating in the GNGI project include: building IPv6 demonstration smart communities, access services for general mobile terminals, CDMA 1X Internet access services, dedicated network access services, and network integration related experiments.
